How to Succeed in Business?

Peter gets his first job as a bicycle mechanic. He fails to finish his first repair job over three days and he unwittingly annoys his boss, Mr. Martinelli. His boss fires him for his plodding pace, but states that he is "very nice" but he just isn't "mechanically inclined". Peter then suppresses the truth from his family, until Carol and Mike visit the shop to purchase bicycles. At that time Mr. Martinelli tells them that Peter is nice but is not cut out for repairing bikes. Carol and Mike then console Peter, telling him his firm has been fired many times by contractors and clients alike.

The Great Earring Caper

Air date: 3/2/73

Cindy loses a pair of earrings Carol loaned to Marcia. She enlists the aid of budding detective Peter to help search for the missing jewelry before Marcia or Carol (who wants them for a costume party, which is the subplot) find out. The family reconstructs the events before Cindy lost the earrings, and they find them in the washing machine.

You're Never Too Old

Air date: 3/9/73

The kids try to set up their maternal maternal great-grandmother, Carol's maternal Grandma Connie Hutchins, and paternal paternal great-grandfather, Mike's paternal Grandpa Hank Brady, after the two come for a visit. While Grandma is a real "swinger", Grandpa is a real "stick in the mud". After some problems, Grandma Hutchins finally wins over Grandpa Brady, and the two elope in Las Vegas.

You Can't Win 'Em All

Air date: 3/16/73

Bobby and Cindy vie for a spot on a kids' television quiz show "Question the Kids" with quiz show host Monty Marshall. Cindy earns her spot, and gains a huge ego as a result, until she blanks when the cameras start rolling. In the subplot Mike and Carol plan a dinner party which was originally going to be a barbecue, then Mexican food, then a smorgasbord, changing dates on several occasions, without resolving a date for the party.

A Room at the Top

Air date: 3/23/73

Greg and Marcia each want to convert the newly cleaned-out attic into their own room. Greg wins out, since he is the oldest of the children, but relinquishes the room to Marcia after hearing her tearful pleas for privacy from her sisters. An annoyed Bobby and Peter — wanting their room to themselves — conspire to frustrate Marcia enough to get her to relinquish the room through a series of prank calls. Marcia accuses Greg of the shenanigans, but the two eldest siblings quickly realize what's been going on. Marcia then realizes she'll have her opportunity to take the room and defers to Greg until he leaves for college.
